Urgh, I actually hated that about DK2. Dwarves were fairly good blockers at higher levels with Protect and Rebound in DK1. They also were the best manufacturers on the Hero Side and fun to abuse. Now there's only going to be the abusement.

I honestly think this is a bad idea. The Tunneller is... well, an Imp. The Dwarf is a unique creature. His skills in the Workshop counter the Troll's, not to mention, he makes a very good early on blocker unit. Even in higher levels, he's especially useful due to his Rebound. His only weakness is a low health but Protect helps him with that. He's a very good unit and useful as well, by merging him into a digger as did DK2, you are taking that away. (And if you say that we should simply replace him with a unit of equal ability then I question you as that's sorta OpenDungeon's objective with the creatures/rooms)

Unless of course, you mean that you're not turning him into a miner and keeping him as a normal unit.

What, i do ask, is wrong with Dwarves mining? They can still be good blockers and manufacturers. If anything is redundant it be the tunneler. Everyone always gets annoyed at DK 2 fixed pairings, but that is a fixed pairing that DK 2 doesn't have.

Well they would have to be significantly nerfed due to the fact that miners should suck. In the end, they probably would be reduced to what a Tunneller is. A Tunneller is supposed to be like an Imp, except they aren't killed so easily. They're meant to be tougher, at the sacrifice of them being slower.

I actually quite like the Tunneller being there, I don't think I can see him being replaced by anybody and fit the same image he had. I more so can't stand seeing the Dwarf reduced to a weak miner.

Well it is the old sheep rearing trick of a goat among sheep, Ie you have a slow(tough) goat(Dwarf) among your sheep(imps), so that when the wolf(enemy) comes it eats(fights) the tunneller and leaving the sheep(imps) ample time to runaway to safety.

I was also for awhile thinking that one had to be got rid of, but to be honest I can't really see much point any more. Other than the fact they are both dwarves they seem to serve different enough functions.

But that was the allure of dwarves in my opinion... they are more effective, can actually fight, mine better and possibly even manufacture if you combine them. At the same time they are creatures and thus rarer and actually a drain on you treasuries which discourages large amounts. You guys are the ones who say that teams shouldn't be carbon-copies of each other.
