    Default Research and Reference

If anybody out there is eager to help but wondering what to do, we (I) could seriously use some help with collecting reference photographs for the game.

Basically it's anything goes, as long as it's medieval-esque (preferably spikey and bloodstained)

We'll need plenty of pictures to help us design the underworld. Churches and Castles are usually quite good as they have nice lighting and stonework, but anything along those lines is useful.

Photos of medieval towns and villages are essential to help us design the Overworld. Anything is useful here as long as it's medieval. If you find a pic of a cool looking building/structure, post it!

We'll need pictures of all the weapons we want to use from daggars to catapults.

Then there's the creatures/heroes themselves. We've got plenty of reference material from the previous games, but there's always room for improvement. If there are any fantasy characters that you really like from other games, post pictures of 'em.

This will be a big help while myself and most of the other devs are busy with work commitments.

Yep, stuff like that is great. Anything that has good design can be useful in one way or another. It could be a sheild, a window or a book cover. If it looks cool, post it here!

And just to keep the ball rolling, here are some examples of the type of stuff we need:

First thing is first for me.
A Pixie by Atlus in their Shin Megami Tensei game, that inspired me to make a Pixie creature in the first place. (Don't let her get unhappy now, Keeper.)

Anyhow, here are some things I found.

http://static.rbytes.net/fullsize_sc...creensaver.jpg A Dark looking side of a Castle. (Looks like a nice place for a Keeper when you take over the OverWorld, right Keeper?)
http://www.ne.jp/asahi/luke/ueda-sar...s540-500-2.gif Some Greek Shield Patterns. (Shields protect you well, unless a fireball hits it.)
http://www.ne.jp/asahi/luke/ueda-sar...Galliarum1.jpg Some more Shield Patterns. (Arm your Creatures with these Shields, keeper!)
http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h.../QFA-116-v.jpg A interesting Sword, thought you guys would like it.
http://www.bricksntiles.com/features/medieval-tower.jpg A tower. (Smash it down! Let the Heroes know you mean it!)
http://chuchscoop.files.wordpress.co...eval-times.jpg Knights on Horses. (Keeper, some Knights think being on a horse will help them win. Prove them wrong.)

I'll go look for more things when I get back from School.

I have some awesome pics of French churches and castles, those are not medieval, however. 15-18 century, mostly.

Would you like to take a look at some of those?

Yeah definitely. Any churches and castles are useful, no matter the period. We'll be mostly using them for reference when designing the stone/brickwork for the Underwold and castles on the Overworld.

Great stuff Hapuga, yeah the first shot is awesome, it definitely has a certain feel to it. The rest are pretty cool too, I like the cobble stone floor in the last pic.

    Keep 'em coming!
